Service Overview

Domestic Electrician in Liverpool, the full picture.

Everything below is what an honest, NAPIT-approved contractor will actually do for you, not what a marketing agency thinks sounds good on a website.

What it covers

Domestic electrical work covers everything inside your home that runs on mains power, from replacing a single faceplate through to consumer unit upgrades, EICR testing, additional circuits, EV chargers and full rewires. Every job we complete is signed off to the current 18th Edition Wiring Regulations and issued with the correct minor works or installation certificate for your records.

Who it's for

Homeowners, landlords, letting agents, and estate agents preparing properties for sale or rent. We're the electrician you call when you want the work done once, done cleanly, and documented properly, not the cheapest bodge that trips a breaker two months later.

When you need it

When something's stopped working, when you're renovating, when an EICR has flagged remedial work, when you're moving in, or when insurance / mortgage / rental compliance has forced your hand. Also when you simply want more sockets in sensible places instead of running extension leads everywhere.

Why professional matters

DIY electrical work in the wrong hands is a fire and shock risk, invalidates home insurance, and gets flagged the second any competent electrician inspects it. A NAPIT-registered contractor is legally allowed to self-certify work that would otherwise need a building control notification, saving you cost, paperwork and time.

What Happens If You Leave It

The cost of putting it off.

Every one of these is something we see weekly. None of them get better on their own.

Fire risk from overloaded circuits

Old fuse boards, undersized cabling and stacked adaptors are the leading causes of domestic electrical fires. What looks like 'it's been fine for years' is often a circuit running warm every single evening.

Failed EICR = unlettable property

Landlords in England must hold a satisfactory EICR every 5 years. Unresolved C1 / C2 codes make the property unlettable and expose you to fines of up to £30,000 per breach.

Invalidated insurance

DIY or uncertified electrical work is one of the first things a loss adjuster checks after a fire or flood claim. Without the correct certificate, cover can be refused outright.

Cheap fixes cost more the second time

Half the domestic jobs we're called to are 'someone had a go', a burnt-out socket, a nuisance-tripping RCD, a light that stays on. We end up doing the job properly and stripping out the previous work.

Our Process

How the job actually runs, start to finish.

  1. Step 1

    Enquiry & phone triage

Call or message. We'll ask the right questions so you're not paying a call-out just to be told what you already suspected.

  2. Step 2

    Free on-site quote

We come out, look at the job properly, and give you an honest fixed quote, often on the spot, in writing.

  3. Step 3

    Book & prep

Agreed date, agreed price, agreed scope. Dust sheets down, sockets covered, floors protected before we start.

  4. Step 4

    Install & first-fix testing

Work carried out to BS 7671. Ongoing checks as we go, not a rushed test at the end.

  5. Step 5

    Certify, tidy & hand over

Full electrical certificate emailed the same day. Site left cleaner than we found it, waste taken away.

In Detail

Everything else worth knowing.

The specific materials, methods and situations that make this job go well, or badly, depending on who's doing it.

The domestic electrical work we cover

Additional sockets and USB outlets, kitchen appliance circuits (hob, oven, extractor, dishwasher), bathroom lighting and shaver sockets, integrated smoke and heat alarm systems to BS 5839-6, hardwired doorbells, extractor fans, immersion heaters, electric shower installations, storage heater upgrades and full LED lighting refits. Every one of these can be done as a one-off visit or bundled into a bigger refurbishment.

Materials, brands and standards

We use MK, BG, Hager, Wylex, Crabtree, Fibaro and other UK-standard hardware, nothing off-brand from an online marketplace. Cable is BASEC-approved 6242Y / 6491X in the correct CSA for the load and route. Consumer units are metal-clad, RCBO-per-circuit as standard rather than dual-RCD, in line with the latest amendment to BS 7671. Every terminal is torque-checked, not just 'nipped up'.

Landlord certificates, EICRs & PAT testing

We carry out landlord Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs) on the 5-year cycle required in England, along with the remedial work that comes off the back of a failed report. If your report has been issued elsewhere, we're happy to price the C1 / C2 remedials, action them, and issue the satisfactory follow-up certificate, most landlord remedial jobs are turned around within a working week. Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) is offered alongside, either as a one-off before check-in or on an annual cycle for HMOs and furnished lets. Certificates are issued in a format that satisfies letting agents, local authorities and buildings insurers.

Renovations, extensions & second fix

Working alongside your builder or as the lead trade. First-fix cabling on stud walls and floor voids, followed by proper second-fix on faceplates, downlights, feature lighting, extraction and consumer unit uprates. We coordinate with plasterers and decorators so nothing gets buried, drilled through, or left tripping.

Common Questions

Domestic Electrician, answered.

Straight answers to the questions we get on the phone every week. If yours isn't here, call 07351 982452 and ask.

How much does a domestic electrician cost in Liverpool?

+

Every job is priced after we've seen it, no misleading 'from' pricing. Our call-out fee is £80 and quotes are free on the spot in most cases. You'll get a fixed price in writing before any work starts.

How quickly can you come out?

+

For non-urgent work, usually within a few days. For genuine emergencies (loss of power, burning smell, exposed live conductors) we run a 24/7 line and respond as fast as travel allows.

Are you registered to certify domestic work?

+

Yes. We're NAPIT-approved, which means we can legally self-certify domestic notifiable work under Part P without you needing to pay building control separately.

Do you issue a certificate for every job?

+

Yes. Minor Works Certificates for small alterations, Electrical Installation Certificates for anything larger. Emailed the same day, always kept on file.

Will my insurance be affected if I use you?

+

The opposite. Using a NAPIT-registered contractor with the correct certification strengthens any future insurance claim involving electrics.

Do you tidy up after yourselves?

+

Yes, dust sheets down before we start, waste taken away, floors left clean. It's the number one thing our repeat customers mention.

Can you help with an EICR I got elsewhere?

+

Yes. Send us the report, we'll quote the remedials and issue the satisfactory follow-up certificate once done.

Do you work outside Liverpool?

+

Yes, right across Merseyside, Cheshire, Greater Manchester and the wider North West. If you're not sure, call and we'll tell you honestly.
